The Property

Located along Clifton Road in Sherwood, this reclaimed quarry sits on land shaped by the Niagara Escarpment, which gives the High Cliff area its distinctive bluffs and exposed stone. Quarrying and farming have both played an important role in the area’s history, and the surrounding landscape still includes wooded hillsides, open fields, and family farms. The property lies near the eastern shore of Lake Winnebago, with High Cliff State Park bordering its southwest corner and a community park along its eastern side. Nearby trails, lake views, and opportunities for hiking, biking, and boating offer plenty of reasons to get outside, with something different to enjoy each season. Sherwood offers a small-town setting while keeping the shops, restaurants, and other conveniences of the Fox Cities within a short drive. The planned agrihood will introduce a new use for the former quarry, with an agricultural focus that fits naturally into the surrounding area.

The Development

At Ecker Ridge, you choose your own builder and home plan, giving you the flexibility to create a home that fits your lifestyle and preferences. Design requirements in the community covenants will help maintain a high standard of quality and appearance while allowing a variety of home styles, sizes, and layouts. That variety will give the neighborhood individual character, with thoughtfully designed homes throughout the community.

The Developers

Ecker Ridge is being developed by Scott Smet and Greg Runnoe, who have worked together at Smet Construction Services for over 20 years. Along with their shared background in construction, both bring experience developing residential communities in Ledgeview. Scott previously developed Trinity Ridge Farms, an agrihood, while Greg’s development experience includes Eventyr Heights and Augusta Hills. Their longstanding working relationship and experience with these projects provide a strong foundation for planning Ecker Ridge. They are drawing on that background to create a neighborhood that works with the property’s natural landscape, offers a variety of lots and home styles, and maintains high standards while giving homeowners the freedom to choose their own builder and home plan.

The Mission

Environmental protection and enhancement: Ecker Ridge partially sits on a reclaimed quarry with many diverse and unique qualities. The undevelopable portions of the land were set aside and intended to be kept and managed in its natural state, supporting the area’s wildlife and available for the enjoyment of the community.

Sustainability: A sustainable way of life is what an agrihood is all about. Sustainable ways of building, energy use, and land practices are always encouraged.

A healthy lifestyle: Between the trails throughout the land and the farm to kitchen-based lifestyle, all residents are given the opportunity and tools to live healthily. Such amenities and practices are available to all residents who want to participate.

A sense of community: Residents choosing to participate in the organic farm will enjoy a “community” type building along with all the other amenities that the agrihood has to offer. This builds a greater sense of community for all residents of all ages.

Aesthetic design and quality: The development covenants require design and construction standards that will ensure a long lasting, premier development.
